I have never poured my heart and soul into a work of art like I have done with this one. This painting was done 6 months after my father died and is still the largest mandala I have ever done. Each line, pattern, and segment has a meaning that ties back to my father and the memories I have of him.
- The middle segment is the pattern from his favourite Taj (head covering)
- The second segment is his drum
- The third segment represents coconut trees (he had a philosophy about bending with change, like the coconut trees and not being rigid when you face the trials of life)
- The fourth and outer segment are banana leaves as he often spoke about how when the banana tree is cut down the water from the trunk of the parent feeds the young tree that will grow up in its place.
