Surah or Chapter Al-Fatihah (The Opening) is the first surah in the Holy Qur’an and is considered a covenant or a solemn pact between God and man. God promises to guide, bless, and forgive; man promises to believe, worship, and live righteously.

Although this surah is very short compared to others in the Qur’an, it is spiritually profound when each line is read and meditated upon. This painting is a meditation on Surah Al-Fatihah.

1 In the name of God, the Almighty, the Merciful.
2 Praise belongs to God, the Lord of All Creation,
3 The Almighty,1 the Merciful,
4 Master of the Day of Judgement.
5 Thee alone do we serve, and from Thee alone do we seek help.
6 Guide Thou us on the straight path,
7 The path of those whom Thou hast favoured; not of those who incur wrath, nor of those who go astray.
